I am selling this authentic colonial-era kero vase, a decorative object rich in history. Ritual function: Keroses were traditionally made and used in identical pairs for the exchange of chicha (a fermented corn beer) during religious festivals, political pacts, or funerals. This ritual symbolised the Andean concept of reciprocity. Colonial evolution: While pre-Columbian keroses were adorned with incised abstract geometric patterns, colonial-era models (16th - 18th century), like this one, incorporate figurative and narrative scenes influenced by European artistic conventions. In very good condition.
