Antique military chest of drawers

Beautiful antique teak military chest of drawers consisting of 2 parts. Completely in good condition. Super quality. What you can see on the sides and top that all consist of 1 piece and not of glued parts. Origin: colonial india. Period: ca. 1860. Size: w. 99cm X d. 45cm X h.99cm. These cabinets were used in the 19th century by the officers of the english army when they were sent to e.g. India. They were made in 2 parts for easy and quick transport. The brass corners were attached to prevent damage during transport and the drawer pulls do not protrude. The idea that they could move quickly in this way in campaigns/battles was outdated around 1900. The collection of campaign furniture of high officers had become so large over the years that it became entire relocations and was therefore no longer fast and efficient.
