4 Thonet 209 M chairs – Gebrüder Thonet Vienna

Set of 4 Thonet 209 M chairs, Gebrüder Thonet Vienna edition from 2014, in light beech with molded wooden seats. Very good overall condition, with some signs of use. Created in 1900, the 209 model is one of the great classics of bentwood furniture. Its design is distinguished by a backrest that extends into armrests, forming a continuous frame made from a single piece of steam-bent solid beech. This technique, characteristic of Thonet's craftsmanship, allows for a lightweight and sturdy structure with particularly fluid lines. The 209 model was notably adopted by Le Corbusier, who used it in his designs for the Weissenhof in Stuttgart in 1927. More than a century after its creation, this chair retains all the simplicity and modernity of its design. 📌Condition and characteristics. The four chairs are in very good overall condition, with a homogeneous light beech finish and their original molded wooden seats. The structures are stable, perfectly functional, and ready for use. Each piece bears its Gebrüder Thonet Vienna stamp under the seat (see photo). Like all furniture that has been used, these pieces may show slight signs of use, which contribute to their charm and testify to their history.
