Old beige matte terracotta carafe H24 L16

Antique terracotta carafe, probably from the late 19th or early 20th century. It has a rounded shape with a stable base, marked shoulder, cylindrical neck, and thick side handle. The terracotta is mostly beige and matte, with some dark brown areas around the neck and lip. The surface retains numerous horizontal turning marks, signs of shaping, and small irregularities related to handmade production. Its shape and construction are in line with the tradition of ancient utilitarian pottery, produced for the storage and serving of liquids. Without any markings or known provenance, no specific regional origin can be attributed to this piece. Its raw material, natural hue, and irregularities give it a rustic aesthetic, resonating with current wabi-sabi sensibilities, which pairs particularly well with raw wood, natural linen, fibre baskets, or handmade ceramics. It can be used as a decorative carafe or as a vase for dried flowers. Dimensions: height 24 cm; width 16 cm. Weight: 1.7 kg. Generally good antique condition, with surface irregularities and signs of use related to age and handmade production. Please feel free to contact me for more information.
