Rare pair of perfectly matched lamps, made from original ceramic vases by Walter Brecht – a remarkable example of the formal and chromatic aesthetics of West German ceramics from the 1970s. The vases feature a distinctive, almost architectural silhouette, with a side handle and a well-defined shoulder. The characteristic glaze transitions from a deep midnight blue at the top to a bright, textured red in the centre – a typical and high-quality colour gradient of the era. Both vases have been carefully and tastefully transformed into table lamps and paired with custom-made lampshades. Lampshades: The lampshades are covered in high-quality deep blue fabric adorned with an elegant crane pattern. The bright red trim creates a bold contrast and echoes the colours of the vases – a harmonious and graphically striking set, inspired by Japanese design. Dimensions: Large lamp: approx. 56 cm in height. Small lamp: approx. 50 cm in height. Vases: approx. 14 cm wide, 7 cm deep. Lampshades: approximately 25 cm in diameter each. Technical details: Both lamps are wired in a classic manner and ready for use. The modification has been carried out carefully, without damaging the ceramics. An exceptional and rare set – ideal as a pair on a sideboard or console, but also looks stunning individually.
