Description
An oil on cardboard "Still life with teapot" Victor VIKO (1915–1998) Signed lower right, dated 1964 and titled on the back Frame Dimensions: 33 x 24 cm Good condition Victor Konsens (pseudonym Viko) was born in the Parisian district of Belleville in Paris to Jewish parents who had emigrated from Poland. Victor Konsens developed artistic qualities very early on: he received the first prize in the general competition of the city of Paris in 1925. He then entered the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts. After the war, his early work was rewarded with a second Orion Prize in 1950. His painting at the time offers to see a pessimism reinforced by the dominants of ochre and gray, states an economy of colors even suggesting monochromy. Then his works move "towards a use of color full of strength and vitality", where Viko paints his holiday resorts: Normandy, Marseille or the countries of the Mediterranean.
