Rattan and cane suspension

Rattan and caning suspension. France or Italy, circa 1960–1970. Natural rattan structure, dome-shaped lampshade with eight bamboo ribs connected by an openwork hexagonal caning — known as "Viennese caning." Upper crown in coiled rattan with suspension ring, base feet made of rattan stem. Electric socket visible inside. The play of light through the caning is the main asset of this piece. Bohemian-Mediterranean style very characteristic of French and Italian decorative production from the 1960s to 1970s. Height: 33 cm. Diameter: 31 cm. Overall good condition. Some slight wear on the rattan consistent with age. Caning intact with no visible tears. Not electrified.
