Red manganese plate Gérard HOFMANN Vallauris

Superb large glazed ceramic dish in manganese red, signed Gérard Hofmann (incised signature on the reverse). This piece dates from the 20th century. Gérard HOFMANN (1917-1965) was trained as a painter. He initially worked with Fernand Léger before turning to ceramics as a decorator for the Cérenne workshop in Vallauris. In 1959, he established his own workshop. Gérard HOFMANN produced very beautiful utilitarian ceramics, original in their shapes. He also developed a remarkable manganese red. The base of his creations is often treated in black. A dish of remarkable size and in impeccable condition, without cracks or chips. Fast and very careful shipping.
