Rare Pretzel Chair designed by George Nelson in 1952 and reissued by Vitra in 2008 to mark the centenary of the designer's birth. This anniversary edition was produced in only 1, 000 numbered copies worldwide. This particular example is numbered 0259/1000. Made from moulded laminated wood with a rosewood veneer, the Pretzel Chair is distinguished by its exceptional sculptural silhouette: the backrest and armrests form a continuous curve, while the four slender legs cross beneath the seat. Originally called the Laminated Chair, it was quickly nicknamed the Pretzel Chair in reference to its characteristic curves. An iconic model of 20th-century American design and a particularly rare collector's piece in this numbered Vitra edition.
