Italian Rococo Revival Gilt Metal Wall Mirror, 1950s

Decorative Italian Rococo Revival wall mirror dating from the 1950s, distinguished by its elaborate pierced metal frame and beautifully aged brass finish. The rectangular mirror plate is surrounded by richly modeled scrolling ornamentation inspired by 18th-century Rococo and Baroque decorative arts. Flowing acanthus motifs, openwork details and pronounced sculptural scrolls create an exceptionally decorative silhouette, crowned by an elaborate central crest. The warm gilt-brass appearance and naturally developed patina emphasize the relief and complexity of the frame. Although rooted in historic Rococo forms, the mirror was produced in mid-20th-century Italy and works particularly well within Hollywood Regency, eclectic and maximalist interiors. Its tall proportions make it suitable as a statement wall mirror in an entrance hall, bedroom, dressing room, living room or above a console. Preserved in good original vintage condition with minor signs of use and age. The original surface shows an attractive aged patina consistent with the period.
