Teacher's desk, first half of the 20th century.

Teacher's desk that belonged to Mrs Cabireau, a teacher at the girls' school in Landiras in the South Gironde. This characterful piece of furniture seems to have accompanied professional and daily life during the first half of the 20th century, the Second World War, and for a few years afterwards. Some ink stains remind us of a time when inkpots had to be filled every evening. The desk features a beautiful wooden structure with a tiered design, numerous drawers, and rustic compartments for storing notebooks and supplies. Its turned and crafted legs evoke the late 19th or early 20th century. The tiered section appears to have been made or adapted later, giving it an interesting blend of periods and reflecting the evolution of the furniture and its use. This authentic desk, with a particularly warm presence, has been fully restored and treated to allow it to continue its story.
