Small vase signed gallé signature with star, early 20th century art nouveau. Émile gallé (1846-1904) is a French industrialist, master glassmaker, cabinetmaker and ceramist. He is the founder and first president of the nancy school in 1901. A child of art and commerce, he is one of the most prominent figures of applied arts in his time and one of the pioneers of art nouveau. Signature, after the death of gallé, the custom is to use a stereotypical “gallé”, etched with acid and preceded by a star during the direction of mrs gallé (1904-1914). “pieces produced between 1905 and 1908 bearing a signature with a star are highly sought after” christophe garland. Christophe garland expert in glass and crystal. This lovely little vase is decorated with a clear acid-etched decoration of irises and poppies with soft stems, as if the flowers were rocked by the wind. A theme naturally dear to Émile Gallé! Ideal for receiving a small bouquet of children or a few small wild flowers, this vase is as discreet as it is lovely.
