1960s Czech Japanese Floor Lamp with Twin Handmade Paper Shades

Rare sculptural floor lamp known as the “Japanese Lamp, ” manufactured in Czechoslovakia during the 1960s. The design is distinguished by two slender, asymmetrical stems in brass-lacquered metal, each supporting a conical handmade paper shade. The stems rise elegantly from a circular black and polished-metal base, producing a refined graphic silhouette characteristic of European Mid-Century Modern lighting. When illuminated, the textured paper shades diffuse a warm and atmospheric light. Each lamp head is operated independently by a pull switch, allowing flexible ambient lighting. The combination of Japanese-inspired geometry, Atomic Age elegance and Czechoslovak craftsmanship makes this an exceptional statement floor lamp for contemporary, modernist or eclectic interiors.
