Dark Green Caged Glass Venetian Lantern (13.8 inch/35 cm), Seguso Murano

A sophisticated venetian pendant light made from handblown caged bubble glass by seguso murano between the 1940s and 1960s. Handcrafted with great attention to detail: these lamps are made with a traditional and sensitive technique by which the glassworker blows the glass through a metal frame, irreversibly joining the two together. Made by the seguso glass factory on the island of murano, near venice. This particular lamp is the large variant of its kind (the glass body is ca. 35 cm in length, the equivalent of about 13.8 inches), and has a rare colour of dark green. The glass is filled with wonderful, unique details. It features oval bubble forms and displays a certain lustre in the light, a testament to the high quality of the glass. The glass body is 23 cm (9 inches) wide and 35 cm (13.8 inches) tall. Has a metal chain and ceiling fitting of about 57 cm in length, circa 22.5 inches. The lamp weighs a little under 2 kilograms in total. It is in excellent vintage condition. The glass is without damages, the metal has a patina. Comes with an electric cord and bulb fitting, but without a light bulb.
