After studying visual arts in lecce, then in florence, he moved to france from 1960 to 2006. He has lived in milan since 2006. Biography a native of puglia, carlo marangio is a student at the ciardo-pellegrino art institute of lecce, then of the national institute of art (it) of florence. His early works are still lifes and landscapes from salento which earned him two first prizes in regional group exhibitions and was selected to participate in the biennale of young artists in rome. In 1960, after obtaining his diploma and after his personal exhibition in milan, where he then settled, earned him the encouragement of the art historian franco russoli (then director of the pinacoteca di brera), with the sum of a thousand lire, carlo marangio goes to paris with the intention of a simple stay allowing him to realize his dream: to admire leonardo da vinci's mona lisa up close at the louvre museum. He actually moved there to live for almost half a century. Carlo marangio will then classify all of his future work under the title objects in space, thus contesting the idea of pure abstraction and stating against it the persistence of his interest in representation.
