This superb set of two small coffee cups is made of 19th century english earthenware. These are adorable espresso cups, small in size (4 cm high X 4.5 cm in diameter), made in england in the wt copeland & sons factory in stoke on trent in the staffordshire region. This factory was created in 1847. These cups are accompanied by their saucers. In molded fluted earthenware, they are decorated with a delightful blue decoration of border friezes and scattered stars and lilies. In good general condition, these cups measure 4cm high X 4.5 cm in diameter and the saucers measure 8.5 cm in diameter. They bear the blue mark "wt copeland & sons stoke en trent". I note discreet traces of use: cracks in the enamel and scratches, as well as a firing defect in the enamel on one cup.
