Vintage round ceramic wall mirror, created by ceramic artist mithé espelt, model "branches". The back of the mirror lined with green felt. Decoration pink buds and green branches on a black and gold background. Diameter 23cm, thickness 1.5cm, ice diameter 14.5cm. Beautiful condition, two slight discolorations on the ice. Mithé (born in 1923) did not sign her works, she wanted them to remain accessible to all budgets. It is for this reason that his mirrors have long been wrongly attributed to françois lembo. However, their style is different. Inspired by byzantine art, the vallaurian artist used iridescent enamels in the shape of pearls simulating precious stones and signed on the reverse of his name. As for mithé, she covered the back of her pieces with a felt, most often green. Its refined mirrors raise a great technical mastery by playing on cracked gold and enamels sometimes inlaid with colored crystals. To achieve the color effects, up to nine operations and usually four cooking operations are required.
