Pair of Italian Space Age Chrome and White Wall Lights, 1970s

Sculptural pair of Italian Space Age wall lights dating from the 1970s. The sconces feature a distinctive layered circular construction combining white lacquered metal with polished chrome-plated metal. A projecting circular chrome reflector conceals the bulb from direct view and reflects the light back onto the larger white disc, creating an attractive halo effect and soft atmospheric illumination. The combination of concentric forms, reflective chrome and white lacquer gives the pair a distinctly futuristic appearance characteristic of Italian Space Age lighting of the period. When switched off, the highly polished central elements act almost like convex mirrors; when illuminated, the fixtures become sculptural glowing objects. An excellent statement pair for a living room, hallway, bedroom or contemporary interior, particularly suitable for Mid-Century Modern, Space Age and 1970s-inspired spaces. The electrical wiring has been renewed. Each wall light takes 1 × E26/E27 bulb and is compatible with US electrical systems. Good vintage condition with minor signs of use and age consistent with the period. Dimensions (each): Diameter: 28 cm / 11.02 in. Depth: 12 cm / 4.72 in.
