Oscar Torlasco for Lumi Modernist Floor Lamp 1954

This iconic floor lamp was designed by oscar torlasco and manufactured by lumi, italy. This lamp was a symbol of modernist 1950s, due to its fixtures and design. It was designed during the period of torlasco’s’s technical growth. Oscar torlasco was a lighting designer of the 50`s & 60`s in italy. In 1959 he won the italian design award compasso d`oro for his street lighting titled "genova 4053". This floor lamp is one of his earlier pieces “genova 3865”, it was commissioned for a client in cagliari, I am given to understand a rare and unique piece of torlasco’s design. Two feet in height. This lamp has a brass base and main structure with 3 arms, which can been turned to different angles, very flexible, and it has 3 coloured lacquered shades. The shades are in original condition and the red one in particular is quite flaky but I did not wish to touch it as it is for the buyers own choice whether they wish to recolour, it is a matter of individual taste! All parts are original and the only thing that has changed is that it has been rewired.
