Pair of Philippe Starck Costes chairs for Driade Aleph 1980s
Designed by Philippe Starck in 1984, the Costes chair was produced by Driade Aleph and quickly became one of the defining designs of 1980s Italian furniture. Its simple silhouette combines a curved black plywood shell with a distinctive three-legged steel base. The Costes chair remains a particularly recognisable example of Starck’s early furniture design, with its restrained construction and unmistakable proportions. Both chairs are in good condition. The seat upholstery is in excellent condition, with no significant signs of wear. The plywood shell shows some small traces of use and age, including minor surface marks consistent with normal use. The chairs remain structurally sound and present very well overall.
