Rococo Neapolitan commode in red marble, poplar and bronze, Italy 1700.

Neapolitan Rococo commode, supported by curved legs, the band under the top is also curved; on the curved front, it features two drawers with a retractable chain. Quartered veneered wood, with double borders set at 45 degrees, the same motif is presented in the reserves on the sides. The two drawers are decorated with a central marquetry featuring a polylobed fillet containing a bouquet of flowers, inhabited by a parrot. The shaped top is made of red breccia marble from the Apennines; the handles are in bronze and bronze appliqués are used on the legs, on the upper part of the uprights, and at the centre of the front crossbar.
