Beautiful sideboard or support cabinet in solid walnut, made around 1920 in Haut-Forez, Loire, showcasing high-quality artisanal woodworking. Far from industrial or mass production, this piece of furniture stands out for the care taken in its creation and the selection of very fine woods. The solid walnut, with its rich and particularly expressive grain, is highlighted both on the wide top and on the facades and panels of the doors. Its design is rooted in the tradition of Louis-Philippe style furniture, featuring a sober and balanced architecture: an overhanging top with softened corners, discreet mouldings, two large drawers in the belt, and two doors with shaped panels, particularly characteristic of this artisanal production. The quality of the work is evident in the numerous details of the joinery, traditional joinery techniques, mouldings, and the treatment of the frames. The upper part opens with two large drawers fitted with brass knobs, while the two lower doors provide access to a generous storage space with an internal shelf. The piece retains a beautiful old patina, with nuances and slight signs of use naturally acquired throughout its history. These contribute fully to the character and authenticity of this item.
