Anna Gawecka (born 1981) is a polish visual artist currently residing in Amsterdam. Practising light painting since 2014, she began exploring hand-tufting in 2021, alongside other fabric-based techniques, as a new path for her artistic expression. She soon found it ignited her joy and creativity, challenging her to translate the essence of her light painting into a tactile form—blending movement, shapes, and reflections of light with the rich textures of wool and thread. Anna focuses her craft on using only rescued yarn—either from unravelled sweaters lovingly sent by her mum or surplus wool she discovers through friends, donations, or unexpected finds. This approach allows her to connect her creations more deeply with her sensitivity to nature, the very source of her inspiration. This rug is a unique piece, part of the "Ciapek Art" series—a pawsitive collaboration between Anna and her playful companion, Ciapek the cat. Inspired by his wild yarn adventures and the charming mess he leaves behind, each creation is infused with his playful spirit, adding a touch of whimsy and warmth to your home. This series explores a mix of techniques, combining colours, textures, and styles to create a vibrant and diverse range of pieces. "Ciapek Art – Blue" Unique hand-tufted and hand-shaved round rug. 100% blue wool, and hand-stitched white wool. 60 cm diameter X 2.5 cm. Finished with a protective grey felt back panel.
