Very beautiful portrait of Elizabeth Farren - Countess of Derby - 19th century mount. Very beautiful quality portrait after the portrait by the painter Thomas Lawrence, of Elizabeth Farren (the most famous painting by the British painter, kept at the MET in NYC. Born around 1759 in Cork and died in 1829, Elizabeth Farren was an Irish actress of the late 18th century who enjoyed great fame at the Drury Lane Theatre in London until 1797, before leaving the stage and becoming the Countess of Derby (England) The painting is signed Dubail on bone. Visible break on the painting. The hooping is made of brass and on the back, a piece of tortoiseshell is surmounted by a bone shield from which it is engraved 1783 and certainly from the same period.
