Antique Round Marble Bread Board

These are gorgeous, 19th century, handmade stone boards, traditionally used to roll out chappattis. These ones are from rajasthan, but were in use throughout india. They are lovely chunky pieces, with considerable weight, expertly hand carved from solid stone and with three raised feet. The diverse marble used, varies widely in colour from locality to locality and each one is therefore, totally unique. They have the patina from many decades of use, with characterful small scratches, scuffs and the odd smoothed chip. They are a lovely addition to any kitchen and work equally well as a rolling or chopping board and perfect for serving cheeses! This one’s carved from a typical local jaiselmer stone, with a lovely warm ochre colour, visible grain and a very nice carved lotus flower, in relief, on the base. This is a very unique and increasingly rare piece.
