Superb and very rare, large decorative bust in fine earthenware, glazed in cream white, featuring a finely crackled glaze. The modelling is delicate and naturalistic, depicting a curly-haired child with a gentle face, a bust up to the shoulders; this could represent a young Greek shepherd or a mythological figure, a common theme in sculptural productions from the interwar period. Underneath the base, the piece bears the mould number 5577, part of a series of models referenced by the manufacturer from 1920 onwards and produced until 1935, making it an antique model. A very similar piece, numbered 5576, depicting a faun, is preserved and referenced by the Musée de la Faïence de Sarreguemines, which allows for precise dating of this production; however, the author remains unknown. In very good condition, with a small chip under a rim, invisible when displayed, as well as a 1mm chip on the hair on the right side, extremely discreet. An exceptional piece, very uncommon for discerning collectors.
