I offer you this beautiful nineteenth chest whose lid, the "front face" and the 2 sides have a dutch marquetry of fruit wood and ebony. The decoration unfolds against a walnut bramble background is composed of leafy rinceaux and stylized flowers framed by a sober geometric frieze enhanced by motifs resembling "coats of arms". The diversity of fruit wood species used here contributes to the wide variety of tones ranging from blondes to browns. Some, being judiciously juxtaposed, come nicely contrasting (from the acid pale yellow of lemon wood to the black of ebony), notably within the "coats of arms" and thus give a lot of relief to the décor. The "front face" of the chest is decorated in the lower part with two palmettes of acanthus leaves, carved walnut wood, located on either side of a central rectangular motif. The four turned round legs of the trunk are embellished with their vintage wheels that facilitate its movement. Each of the 2 side sides of the cabinet has its handle and the "front side" its beautiful lock fitting, all 3 original. The inside of the trunk is fully upholstered in a royal blue jacquard satin fleece in very good condition. (i can't say if it's original). This piece of furniture is of good quality and in very good condition despite some small gaps of nets and veneer and its missing key (we are looking for it...). Both sober and elaborate, easy to place and move, it offers a large interior space very useful. Old storage boxes are indeed very sought after today for their charm and practicality: do not hesitate to ask me for any questions.
