6 original vintage Knoll Tulip chairs by Eero Saarinen

6 fixed Knoll Tulip chairs designed by Eero Saarinen (in good vintage condition!). Not marked underneath, but recognisable by several characteristics as originals! The shells and bases are in very good condition! Not yellowed! New price for this fully upholstered version: €3008 per chair, now this complete set of 6 for only €4250! The Knoll Studio Tulip Chair is a classic design by Eero Saarinen. The confusion of table and chair legs in most interiors annoyed Saarinen. With the Tulip chair of 1957, he aimed to create a single-piece chair. His idea of making the chair entirely from fibreglass was not feasible, so it was made in two parts: a moulded fibreglass seat reinforced with a layer of plastic and a cast aluminium base with a Rilsan coating. Nevertheless, the chair appears as a single piece, with undulating shapes reminiscent of a tulip petal. Along with the armchairs and tables, also known as the "Pedestal Collection", the chair is an example of 1950s modernism.
