Rare and magnificent large decorative vase from the Mid-Century period (circa 1960-1970) made of blown art glass, originating from the famous region of Empoli in Tuscany (Italy). This model, with its captivating design, perfectly fits within the lineage of modernist creations and post-war Italian glass art. The vase is distinguished by its elongated trumpet or diabolo shape, showcasing a sumptuous and intense amethyst (or dark eggplant) color. The base of the vase flares out into a bubble or knob made of solid glass, which spectacularly rests on a perfectly transparent blown crystal circular pedestal. The junction between the tinted body and the transparent pedestal reveals a beautiful work of a hot-formed collar or scalloped ring, demonstrating the excellent technical craftsmanship of the master glassmaker (presence of the ground pontil on the reverse under the base). Characteristics of the piece: Origin: Empoli (Tuscany, Italy). Material: Blown art glass in amethyst color and transparent crystal pedestal. Shape: Elongated trumpet neck with a smooth lip, tapered body, bulbous base on a pedestal with a scalloped collar. Condition: Excellent original vintage condition. The glass is of magnificent clarity, without cloudiness or internal limescale. No cracks, no chips on the pedestal or the upper lip. A superb milestone of Italian design from the 60s, ideal for holding long floral stems, enriching a collection of colorful Scandinavian or Italian glassware, or for enhancing a teak sideboard with a chic and luminous touch.
