A vintage gem like this is hard to come by... this oak boarding school wardrobe from the 1950s or 60s comes from a former school in the Yvelines region and allowed boarders to store their belongings in the dormitory. Asymmetrical, it consists of a left section, known as the wardrobe or cloakroom section, which contains a high shelf and a hanging rail, and a hybrid right section. This right section has a closed compartment at the bottom equipped with a sliding drawer and a shelf, and an open upper section with shelves. In the style of Jacques Hitier, it is made of a large solid and veneered oak frame mounted on a black tubular metal base. It has been completely cleaned, sanded, and then treated with a conditioning oil to nourish, protect, and enhance its beautiful light oak wood. Extremely sturdy, it has survived the decades without any damage, apart from a few tiny chips in the veneer. It has retained its attractive gold-tone metal handles and the small mechanism for attaching a padlock to secure the large door. Formerly a boarding school wardrobe, this unique, highly practical, and now very rare piece of furniture from the past would be ideal in an entryway or bedroom... In any case, this magnificent vintage wardrobe will create a wow effect and delight lovers of vintage, designer, Scandinavian school, and industrial furniture...
