Fashion Review Engraving Frame 1882

This wooden frame houses an engraving from the Revue de la Mode Gazette de la Famille. This weekly magazine, published in Paris and founded in 1871 by Abel Goubau, was released every Sunday and included 8 pages of text along with fashion engravings and ladies' works. Twice a month, it offered a full-size pattern. Thus, its readers in Paris, as well as in the provinces, could gain a glimpse into the intimacy of the aristocratic classes and admire the splendid outfits of the elegant. This engraving is dated 1882 and is signed A. Chaillot. Below, the houses where ladies could find the models and accessories that adorned the drawing are detailed. A different era. The wooden frame is in good condition. The engraving has a few small brown spots and some dust that has slipped between the glass and the frame. (see photos) This dust should be removable if the paper at the back is opened, but we have left it as is. The overall appearance of this 140-year-old engraving remains very aesthetic.
