Striking pair of “Raindrop” sconces designed by Frank Ligtelijn for RAAK Amsterdam in the Netherlands, 1970. A refined example of Dutch modernist lighting, the design is celebrated for its sculptural clarity and atmospheric effect. Each sconce features a hand-blown glass globe with a distinctive raindrop texture, mounted on a minimalist blackened metal wall plate and chrome fitting. When lit, the glass creates a warm and diffuse glow, casting subtle patterns on the surrounding wall. The combination of clear glass and polished metal emphasizes transparency and lightness, hallmarks of Ligtelijn’s work for RAAK. Both sconces remain in very good vintage condition, with original labels preserved. An iconic and highly collectible design, these “Raindrop” sconces make a refined statement in both modern and eclectic interiors.
