Versailles walnut armoire, 18th century

Ile-de-France walnut wardrobe, stamped I.Martiny (unknown stamp in the directory of 18th century cabinetmakers and carpenters). Origin: Morbihan manor listed as a historic monument. Facade with two molded and arched doors. Sides with molded crosspieces and recessed panels. Curved and molded gendarme hat cornice. Interior with four shelves and oak wardrobe (posterior). Stamped twice on the upper and lower facade crosspieces. Wrought iron ornamentation, including cremone bolt, lock and period key. Lag screw assembly (system allowing easy disassembly used at the time for transport in narrow access, so-called Versailles wardrobe). Beautiful work from the beginning of the 18th century.
