This work, with its powerful and free lines, is fully in line with the modernist aesthetic of the 1960s: synthetic lines, bold contrasts, and vegetation treated as almost abstract graphic masses. The subject depicts a village dominated by a church, approached in a spirit of a travel sketch, spontaneous and expressive. The drawing plays on the opposition between the clean architectural volumes and the density of the surrounding landscape.
