Lot of two small empty pockets craft kholhloma. Made in ussr. this is the decoration of furniture and wooden crockery objects, using red, green and black on a golden background. The golden color comes not from gold, but from a mixture of gum arabic and arsenic. The colors are linened four or five times. The objects are then baked for four hours between 150 and 160 degrees, giving the colours their typical metallic appearance. This handicraft was revitalized from the 1960s for tourism.
