Plush, sculptural, and low, the Mushroom chair is a seat that prioritises comfort over formality. Designed in 1960 to envelop the body, it anticipated a bold era of exploration and challenging conventions. With its brightly coloured fabric and bold organic shape, the Mushroom chair achieved immediate success upon its release. For the French designer Pierre Paulin (1927-2009), who was seeking new methods of chair manufacturing when he created this provocative piece, the journey has been considerable.
