Spectacular three-piece mantel garniture, consisting of a large clock with a sculpted group and two matching candelabra, in the style of the late 19th century. The clock is topped with a significant patinated spelter group representing a young couple entwined, moving side by side under a fabric raised by their arms. The particularly careful treatment of the faces, drapery, and postures gives a lot of movement and elegance to the composition. The group rests on an imposing veined griotte marble base, architecturally shaped, enriched with gilded bronze ornaments at the ends. At the front is a circular enamelled dial, with Arabic numerals, surrounded by a gilded bronze mount. The clock is accompanied by two large candelabra, richly worked with scrolls, foliage, volutes, and rocaille motifs. Their multi-armed composition is supported by red marble bases matching that of the clock and adorned with gilded bronzes. The whole forms a particularly decorative and monumental garniture, characteristic of the historicist and neo-rocaille taste of the second half of the 19th century. Period: late 19th century. Materials: patinated spelter, gilded bronze, and veined red marble. Composition: one clock and two candelabra. Height of the clock: 81 cm at its tallest. Beautiful decorative presence. Old patina and signs of use consistent with the age of the ensemble. An important mantel garniture intended for both a classic interior and a collection of bronzes and decorative objects from the 19th century.
