Turkish Dosemealti rug. Hand-knotted points. Estimated period 1950s-60s, possibly earlier. Wool on wool, dimensions 118x193 cm. Pile height approximately 0.8 cm. Density: about 36 knots per cm². Professionally washed. This type of rug was produced by the nomads of Anatolia, who settled in the hinterland of Antalya, on the Aegean coast of Turkey. Döşemealtı is the locality in this hinterland that gave its name to this marvel. Döşemealtı rugs are known for their bright blue-red-green colours. This rug therefore features the typical colours of Döşemealtı rugs. The rug has been freshly hand-washed by a professional artisan, Best Craftsman of France 2011. Invoices available upon request.
