Period: ca. 1972-1975 this oval earthenware serving dish is a collector's item. In the centre is a beautifully executed hyacinth flower, known in latin as hyacinthus orientalis. Around the sides are detailed butterfly illustrations. The rim features the traditional portmeirion laurel leaf frieze. The back bears the highly sought-after maker's mark, which is only found on the earliest items in the series dating from between 1972 and ca. 1975. Illustrator susan ellis-williams created this popular range after drawing inspiration from an antique volume of floral illustrations. Condition: good. No damage. Signs of use and age especially in the crackled surface which is typical of pieces of this age. Dimensions: 34 cm long, 24.5 cm wide.
