Verlys coasters

Two coasters for bottles or glasses. Verlys molded pressed glass, Art Deco fish decoration. Verlys, a brand composed of the contraction of "verrerie des Andelys." In 1925, the Holophane glassworks, founded in 1921 in Les Andelys in the Eure department of France, specializing in the manufacture of optical glass and lenses for lighthouses and beacons, opened an art glass department under the Verlys brand. The first creations were stained glass objects, which, by 1933, would give way to the production of molded pressed glass, whose level of perfection and manufacturing mastery, especially in opalescence, would rival the most illustrious houses of the time, such as Sabino or Lalique. Only pieces produced in France by the Holophane company in Les Andelys between 1925 and 1946 are embossed directly in the mold with the inscription "Verlys France."
