Very rare and unique. Chessboard, travel chess set, miniature, russian handmade porcelain, stamped gzhel, turigino near moscow, vintage 80s-90s, handcrafted, hand-painted in the traditional style, royal blue, typical gzhel floral and geometric patterns. Signed under the body and under the board by the artist yuri nikolaevich garanin, garanin, honored artist of russia since 97, some of his pieces can be seen in russian museums. The base is a box consisting of a body with 2 compartments for the pieces, false drawers/handles on either side and 4 small feet, the chessboard, board, is a lid. 16 white pieces, 16 black pieces, complete, kings 3cm high, pawns 2cm. Small felt squares at the base of the pieces. Board 19x19cm, 21cm long with handles, by 20cm wide for the body, 5.5cm max height. The artist produced a number of chess sets however travel chess are rare in his production. Piece of great delicacy, much finesse in the details. Mint condition. Slightly wobbly on its feet. Approximately 1.280kg for the set.
