Pair of oval mirrors, 19th century

A pair of oval mirrors from the 19th century, presumably of French origin. The wooden frames are polished to a black finish and feature a wide, moulded edge with rounded shapes. The understated design and dark finish are in keeping with the Napoleon III style of the second half of the 19th century. Both mirrors have been fitted with new mirror glass. The original wooden frames show slight signs of wear and have retained their characteristic black finish.
