Marenco armchair set with ottoman by Mario Marenco for Arflex, 1970s

Vintage design. Iconic "Marenco" armchair designed by Mario Marenco for Arflex in the 1970s, accompanied by its matching ottoman. The design is based on a modular system consisting of a black lacquered metal base on which large cushions are placed to form the seat, backrest, and armrests, defining a very recognisable and exceptionally comfortable structure. The "Marenco" model is one of the most iconic examples of Italian research on comfort in the 1970s, a period when formal language was deliberately reduced to the essentials in favour of function and user experience. The generous and soft volumes combined with the concealed structure give the armchair a sculptural yet informal presence, making it a timeless piece that remains remarkably contemporary.
