Agaseke Basket Traditional Artisanal Craft from Rwanda

Authentic spiral-woven basket from East Africa (Rwanda/Burundi), called Agaseke, a traditional symbol of friendship and peace, once given during weddings and major ceremonies. Entirely hand-woven by expert artisans, it is made from natural fibres (sisal or lutindzi grass) wrapped around a core of papyrus. Its geometric zigzag patterns evoke mountainous landscapes and symbols of protection. It features a matching lid topped with a decorative pom-pom made of dyed raffia. In superb condition, with bright colours and a perfectly rigid structure. Height with pom-pom 14 cm. Width 10 cm.
