Small antique Japanese furniture with a kumiko lattice structure and a hinged door, dated between the end of the Taishō period and the beginning of the Shōwa period, circa 1910–1940. This type of Japanese kitchen furniture was traditionally used to store food, utensils, or small containers while protecting them and ensuring good ventilation. The open structures allowed for air circulation and prevented humidity. The sides and door feature a delicate kumiko lattice, a traditional Japanese woodworking technique that involves assembling thin pieces of wood to form geometric patterns without visible nails. The interior includes three shelves for organising various items in a compact space. This type of furniture was common in domestic kitchens or small shops. The surface shows a natural patina with signs of use, developed over the decades. These marks contribute to the authentic character of antique Japanese furniture. Today, this small piece can be used as a display cabinet, accent furniture, or a decorative element in contemporary interiors inspired by Japandi, wabi-sabi, or minimalist styles. Details.
