Stackable swan-shaped ashtray – Silver-plated metal 20th century

Refined and ingenious ashtray with a pivoting system in silver-plated metal from the mid-20th century, featuring a majestic swan at rest. This sculptural piece stands out for its articulated opening mechanism. When closed, the object forms a compact swan with finely chiselled plumage. By pivoting its three movable sections, the wings unfold to reveal the hollow body serving as a central receptacle. With its fluid lines and highly sought-after table engineering, this object perfectly fits the modernist and chic aesthetic of the 1950s-1960s. A timeless classic of the art of living from that era, it will today find an ideal second life as an articulated catchall or charming jewellery box. Condition: In good used condition with a beautiful period patina. The silver plating shows signs of natural oxidation and traces of use inside the bowl, which gives it a lot of character and attests to its authenticity. The pivoting system works and articulates perfectly. * Period: 1950s / 1960s – 20th century. * Material: Silver-plated metal (or silvered regulus) * Type: Ashtray with system / Articulated secret box / Catchall.
