Dating from the 18th century, this antique oak chest comes from the Auvergne region of France. Made of solid oak, it features a rectangular body with a hinged wooden lid, decorative mouldings, and a moulded lower rail. The front is adorned with a delicately scalloped lower edge, while the short, curved feet are integrated into the wooden structure. The front has a central lock plate framed by an arched moulding. The original lock is no longer present. The lid opens to reveal a spacious wooden interior, ideal for storing blankets, linens, or other items. The oak has developed a beautiful brown patina over time, with visible grain and natural variations in tone. Chests of this type were traditionally used in French rural households to store linens and personal effects, and were often associated with the bride's dowry. Today, this chest can serve as a blanket box, storage trunk, or decorative piece of antique furniture. Dimensions Width: 135 cm Depth: 68 cm Height: 82 cm Weight: Approximately 75 kg
