Very beautiful mundus / ungvar armchair (early 20th century) in curved beech

This very elegant bentwood armchair dates from the early 20th century and still bears the remains of the mundus label. Only the visible m remains, as well as a small part of the background, but this is enough to identify this legendary label. It was in fact produced by the hungarian company ungvar (it appears in its catalog around 1900), mundus being in fact a group of several austro-hungarian manufacturers, joined by ungvar in 1920, at the time when the legendary manufacturer thonet took over the group. The history of bentwood is as complex as it is fascinating! Our armchair, with its long armrest that goes all the way around the piece of furniture and its thermo-engraved palmette seat are the fruits of unparalleled know-how and are astonishingly modern. The patina is very warm and its appearance is most elegant. A seat praised at the time for its comfort and its resolutely luxurious and modern design.
