This adorable pair of small spice pots in chamotté stoneware are signed le cep, tampon france, for the workshop of the ceramist jean tessier (1931- 2020). He opened the cep workshop in villenauxe la grande in 1959, which takes its name from the famous champagne vineyards. A graduate of the beaux arts in paris, he trained in craftsmanship with the pierlot couple at the château de ratilly. His one-year stay in denmark in various individual workshops and ceramic factories was also decisive in his influence; he invented a line of table products combining pure and hard return to form and matter.
