The lamp comprises a base of green-lacquered corrugated metal ‘grass’, a bent metal stem and a flower-like shade of incalmo glass in opal white and opaque blue. Incalmo glass is made using a complicated and highly-skilled technique whereby two hemispheres of mouth-blown glass of identical diameters are joined whilst molten and worked into a single form. The lamps were available in different heights, with stems bent at different points, and with several different shades, so that they could be displayed singly or in groups, giving the impression of an organic meadow. The lamps could be daisy-chained together, using a cable to join separate lamps and illuminate them from a single socket. This function has been retained during the rewiring process. The lamp sits on four height-adjustable legs, for placing on uneven surfaces. The lamp has been completely rewired, with earthing to bring it up to modern safety standards. It has been done with premium italian double-insulated three-core cable. The main cable is a generous length of the same cable, with a decorative vintage-style green fabric braid that complements the lamp base. The lamp accepts a single e14 small edison screw bulb.
